So apparently wrote Phil Jones, director of the University of East Anglia's Climate Research Unit (CRU) and one of the world's leading climate scientists, in a 2005 email to "Mike." Judging by the email thread, this refers to Michael Mann, director of the Pennsylvania State University's Earth System Science Center.

Global-warming bombshell
Humans cause climate change, right? Turns out scientists may have been suppressing data to the contrary
In what Michelle Malkin is calling "the global warming scandal of the century," emails hacked from a major British research center are being used to suggest that certain scientists have been over-simplifying the truism that humans cause climate change. Rival scientists, who question Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW), pounced on this "evidence" as proof that the emailers have been cooking the research, squelching dissenting views, and committing ethical crimes. Is global warming a global conspiracy - or is this heated debate mostly just hot air?
The emails reveal power-hungry fraudsters: The "scientific consensus" touted by "global warming alarmists" is apparently fiction, says Rob Port at Say Anything. Worse, these "scientists" were also deceiving the public to supply "phony, cooked research" to help politicians "enact a myriad of new taxes, regulations and a generalized expansion of government power."
This is overblown everyone massages graph data: Admittedly, says Nate Silver in FiveThirtyEight, one email suggests that key climate researcher Phil Jones was "sexing up a graph to make his conclusions more persuasive." That’s unethical, and inexcusable, but sadly quite common on both sides of the debate ("I'd include some of the graphs in [Al Gore's] Inconvenient Truth" in this charge.) more

Boxer-Kerry Cap and Trade Bill

Steve Elliott, President, Grassfire.org Alliance
Alex,
Following closely on the heels of ObamaCare, the Boxer-Kerry Cap and Trade bill has been inconspicuously moving through the Senate with a stealth goal to pass the bill before the Copenhagen Summit this December!
During a heated debate last week Sen. Barbara Boxer, Chairwoman of the Environment and Public Works committee refused to release a full economic analysis of the bill, to which Inhofe bristled, "I can only conclude that they don't want the pubic to know how much money this thing is going to cost."
And cost it will?
Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) said of the coming legislation, "This would be the largest tax increase in the history of America."
Analysts believe the increased taxes and fees will cost the average American household upwards of $1,600 to $3,000 or more each and every year!
Making matters worse, scientists suggest Cap and Trade would have no measurable benefit--except to the federal government.

China Leads In Carbon Pollution

Despite a global economic slump, worldwide carbon dioxide pollution jumped 2 percent last year, most of the increase coming from China, according to a study published online Tuesday.

The bill is a terrible for the environment but great for speculators and the worst polluters.

Gore pleads for unity on climate, despite divide
By Dina Cappiello and H. Joseph Hebert, AP
Former Vice President Al Gore, the leading American voice on climate change, urged lawmakers Friday to overcome partisan differences and take action to reduce greenhouse gases.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a Republican, argued that the Democratic proposal to reduce greenhouse gases would "punish the American people" by imposing higher energy costs and threatening jobs. "This bill is an energy tax,"
"How do we protect our people?" asked Democratic Rep. John Dingell, whose state, Michigan, is reeling from the economic recession and is home to many energy-intensive industries, including the ailing auto industry. Dingell said he is not convinced the bill will protect U.S. jobs, especially if China is not forced to take similar actions.
"If the United States leads, China will follow," Gore argued. (That is a lie. China said that they will not follow)     source

Water vapor is known to be Earth's most abundant greenhouse gas, but the extent of its contribution to global warming has been debated. Vandalism at Kingsnorth power station in Kent, England

Six Greenpeace climate change activists painted "Gordon" on the Kingsnorth power station chimney in protest of plans to build a bigger coal-fired station next door. The government claimed they caused £30,000 in damages.
The defendants admitted causing the damage, but claimed that it was lawful for them to damage the chimney to prevent damage to property around the world.
James Hansen, Director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies appeared as witness for the defendants. The jury bought the activists' defense and the protesters were cleared.

At least two things are wrong:
Vandalism cannot be sanctioning for any cause.
A US government employee should not be defending criminals.

And others unanswered:
Did Dr Hanson's actions violates our government code of ethics? Was his trip and time paid by NASA?
Was he paid by Greenpeace? Does he have the right to use government data?
NASA owes us an explanation.

Global Warming Equals Stronger Hurricanes
Meteorologists Find That Increased Ocean Temperatures Cause Increasingly Intense Hurricanes
Climate change experts studying hurricanes documented a 35-year warming trend in ocean surface temperature and linked it to larger hurricanes. The increase has been 1 degree Fahrenheit, resulting in four percent more atmospheric water vapor and six to eight percent more rainfall. Though global warming does not guarantee that each year will see record-strength hurricanes, the long-term ocean warming should raise the baseline of hurricane activity.
According to new research, hurricanes in the North Atlantic are stronger and larger than ever before. Scientists now say they know what's to blame.
Winds topping over 75 miles per hour - rain slamming down - waves crashing into the coast!
Some climate scientists believe hurricanes in the North Atlantic loom more dangerous than ever. But now they say … they think know why.
"Since about 1970, there has been a warming of the global oceans including the areas where the hurricanes form due to increases in carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases in the atmosphere," Kevin Trenberth, NCAR Scientist in Boulder, Colo., told Ivanhoe.      more

Water Vapor in the Climate System
American Geophysical Union
There are many atmospheric greenhouse gases, some naturally occurring and some resulting from industrial activities, but probably the most important greenhouse gas is water vapor. Water vapor is involved in an important climate feedback loop. As the temperature of the Earth's surface and atmosphere increases, the atmosphere is able to hold more water vapor. The additional water vapor, acting as a greenhouse gas, absorbs energy that would otherwise escape to space and so causes further warming.
Without water vapor and other greenhouse gases in the air, surface air temperatures would be well below freezing.

Global Warming in Maine
September 8, 2010
Returned from a week in Belfast Maine. The air was clear and the sun hotter than in New York. It is no surprise that the climate, especially in northern Main, is warmer. It has been warming for centuries:

The late Wisconsinan Laurentide Ice Sheet expanded out of Canada and reached its maximum position by 28,000 years ago. The ice sheet was several thousand feet thick during the ice maximum and covered most of the mountains in the state. The weight of this ice mass depressed the land-surface elevation. As the glacier flowed across the state for thousands of years, it shaped the surface of the land by eroding, transporting, and depositing tremendous quantities of sediment and rock debris. Ice eroded the Bangor area and smoothed the surface, but little sediment was deposited in the Bangor region.
Deglaciation chronology: Climatic warming forced the Laurentide Ice Sheet to start melting and receding prior to 22,000 years ago, and the Bangor area was deglaciated sometime between 14,500 and 14,000 years ago. During the recession of the ice, the Earth's crust was still depressed by the weight of the ice sheet and the sea flooded Maine as the glacier margin retreated to the north-northwest. Glaciomarine deltas deposited into the ocean in the central part of the state indicate that the sea submerged land to elevations up to 422 feet (129 m) (Thompson and others, 1989). Report

Greater economic growth could lead to greater greenhouse gas emissions, while simultaneously enhancing various aspects of human well-being and the capacity to adapt to climate change.
This begs the question as to whether and, if so, for how long would a richer-but-warmer world be better for well-being than poorer-butcooler worlds.

Water Vapor Rules the Greenhouse System Just how much of the "Greenhouse Effect" is caused by human activity?
It is about 0.28%, if water vapor is taken into account-- about 5.53%, if not.
Water vapor constitutes Earth's most significant greenhouse gas, accounting for about 95% of Earth's greenhouse effect (4). Interestingly, many "facts and figures' regarding global warming completely ignore the powerful effects of water vapor in the greenhouse system, carelessly (perhaps, deliberately) overstating human impacts as much as 20-fold.
