Wind Energy Bumps Into Power Grid’s Limits
Mike Groll/Associated Press
When the builders of the Maple Ridge Wind farm spent $320 million to put nearly 200 wind turbines in upstate New York, the idea was to get paid for producing electricity. But at times, regional electric lines have been so congested that Maple Ridge has been forced to shut down even with a brisk wind blowing.

Global Warming or Global Governance? -- By George Stamm, Epoch Times San Diego Staff
The record shows that presently $4 Billion per year is being spent on global warming research. Much of the funding for these research projects have been put together by “Public-Private-Partnerships” composed of multi-national corporations and NGO’s promoting the one world government concept. Since none of these entities are elected, there is little to no accountability to the electorate of the U.S. These partnerships then are free to impose their will on people with no punitive measures. . . . more

Geologists Find 90 Billion New Barrels of Oil in the Arctic. - Michael Asher
The new amount, equivalent to nearly 20 years of US foreign oil imports, is worth over $11 trillion dollars at current oil prices. One third of the amount may lie in Alaska alone, according to the study's authors.
The region also holds nearly 1,700 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, 27% of known world gas reserves. Counting known deposits already surveyed, total oil and gas deposits in the Arctic are more than 410 billion barrels.

Investing in Nuclear Energy
Cashing in on Cap and Trade: A Nuclear Power Surge
Whether you call it "cripple and rob" or by its real name, the "cap and trade" legislation currently being debated in Congress does have a certain inertia of inevitability about it.
According to an analysis of the plan by the Energy Information Agency (EIA), the U.S. would have to increase its nuclear capacity by 268 gigawatts by 2030 for the plan to achieve it goals.
Investing in the Nuclear Power Surge
That would require the building of approximately 200 new nuclear power plants over the next 25 years assuming the average new reactor will produce about 1.3 gigawatts of electric power. And while that number may seem a bit high to some, the lowest available estimate would even require 50 new nuclear plants at a minimum to protect us from a warm winter's day. see article

Global Warming and the Price of a Gallon of Gas
There is no significant man made global warming. There has not been any in the past, there is none now and there is no reason to fear any in the future. The climate of Earth is changing. Energy reality must no longer be denied. Fully 85 percent of all the energy Americans use comes from fossil fuels. Add in nuclear and hydroelectric power, and we've reached 96 percent. Biomass (3 percent) is mostly waste from paper mills and sawmills.
A mere 0.8 percent is wind and solar power. These renewable sources are not alternatives to fossil fuel use. They are supplements. Just to provide electricity to meet New York City's needs would require blanketing Connecticut with 300-foot-tall wind turbines that generate power only eight hours a day, on average. That is neither economically nor ecologically sustainable.
If we attempt to force a massive switch away from fossil fuels, we will create a Grand-Canyon-sized energy gap between what we need and energy we actually have if its production is delayed, outlawed, restricted or priced out of reach.

Temperature Monitors Report Widescale Global Cooling
All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously. A compiled list of all the sources can be seen here. The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C -- a value large enough to erase nearly all the global warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year time. For all sources, it's the single fastest temperature change every recorded, either up or down. […] Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile -- the list goes on and on. No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.      more

Feb. 25, 2008 - Canada's National Post
Forget Global Warming: Welcome to the new Ice Age
Snow cover over North America and much of Siberia, Mongolia and China is greater than at any time since 1966. The U.S. National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) reported that many American cities and towns suffered record cold temperatures in January and early February. According to the NCDC, the average temperature in January "was -0.3 F cooler than the 1901-2000 (20th century) average." China is surviving its most brutal winter in a century. Temperatures in the normally balmy south were so low for so long that some middle-sized cities went days and even weeks without electricity because once power lines had toppled it was too cold or too icy to repair them. And remember the Arctic Sea ice? The ice we were told so hysterically last fall had melted to its "lowest levels on record? Never mind that those records only date back as far as 1972 and that there is anthropological and geological evidence of much greater melts in the past. The ice is back. Gilles Langis, a senior forecaster with the Canadian Ice Service in Ottawa, says the Arctic winter has been so severe the ice has not only recovered, it is actually 10 to 20 cm thicker in many places than at this time last year. […]Last month, Oleg Sorokhtin, a fellow of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, shrugged off manmade climate change as "a drop in the bucket." Showing that solar activity has entered an inactive phase, Prof. Sorokhtin advised people to "stock up on fur coats." He is not alone. Kenneth Tapping of our own National Research Council, who oversees a giant radio telescope focused on the sun, is convinced we are in for a long period of severely cold weather if sunspot activity does not pick up soon.      more

Feb. 15, 2008 - Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Arctic Sea Ice Sees 'Significant Increase' in Size Following 'Extreme Cold'
There's an upside to the extreme cold temperatures northern Canadians have endured in the last few weeks: scientists say it's been helping winter sea ice grow across the Arctic, where the ice shrank to record-low levels last year. Temperatures have stayed well in the -30s C and -40s C range since late January throughout the North, with the mercury dipping past -50 C in some areas. Satellite images are showing that the cold spell is helping the sea ice expand in coverage by about 2 million square kilometres, compared to the average winter coverage in the previous three years. "It's nice to know that the ice is recovering," Josefino Comiso, a senior research scientist with the Cryospheric Sciences Branch of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Centre in Maryland, told CBC News on Thursday. […] Winter sea ice could keep expanding. The cold is also making the ice thicker in some areas, compared to recorded thicknesses last year, Lagnis added. "The ice is about 10 to 20 centimetres thicker than last year, so that's a significant increase," he said. If temperatures remain cold this winter, Langis said winter sea ice coverage will continue to expand.      more

Time to stop playing games.
With banks failing and billions spent on saving the economy we don't have time or money to test and subsidize windmills and other unproven forms of energy. The ethanol program proved to be an expensive failure. We can and should provide tax breaks as we did with other energy providers.
We must conserve like never before.
We have to drill for oil and gas here and as we do drastically reduce our imports. We cannot afford to continue sending 700 billion dollars and millions of jobs overseas.
We have to build safe and reliable nuclear power plants now. France can do it and so can we.
We must re-examine global warming. We have to be sure that reducing carbon will make a difference before we devote trillions of dollars and fail to halt climate change.
Creating 5 million green jobs sounds good and exporting green technology is a great idea but when you export the technology the jobs go with it.
For over thirty years Democrats have stopped every attempt to increase domestic energy production. It's time to get to work.

The Blueprint for Change
Barack Obama’s Plan for America
Foreign Oil - America’s 20-million-barrel-a-day oil habit costs our economy $1.4 billion a day, and $500 billion in 2006 alone. Every single hour, we spend $41 million on foreign oil. *
Climate Change - As a result of climate change, glaciers are melting faster; the polar ice caps are shrinking; trees are blooming earlier; more people are dying in heat waves; species are migrating, and eventually many will become extinct. **
* Thanks to Democrats who killed all energy plans since 1977. more
** We did not cause climate change and we will not stop it. more

Oil and Security
During 2006 the United States consumed 20.7 million barrels (20.7 MMbd) of petroleum products per day.
At the same time the US produced about 5.1 million barrels per day (5.1 MMbd) and imported about 15.6 million barrels per day (15.6 MMbd) Petroleum products were imported from:
Canada - 17.2%
Mexico - 12.4%
Saudi Arabia - 10.7%
Venezuela - 10.4%
Nigeria - 8.1%
To secure our oil supply we have to reduce imports by about 50% or close to 8 million barrels per day.
There is no alternate fuel for airplanes, trucks and factories. We will be uing some oil for decades. We can and must use our own!

End of Global Warming?
David Evans, July 18, 2008
1. The greenhouse signature is missing.
2. There is no evidence to support the idea that carbon emissions cause significant global warming. None.
3. The satellites that measure the world's temperature all say that the warming trend ended in 2001, and that the temperature has dropped about 0.6C in the past year (to the temperature of 1980
4. The new ice cores show that in the past six global warmings over the past half a million years, the temperature rises occurred on average 800 years before the accompanying rise in atmospheric carbon. Which says something important about which was cause and which was effect.
Dr David Evans worked for the Australian Greenhouse Office from 1999 to 2005, building the carbon accounting model that Australia uses to track carbon in its biosphere for the purposes of the Kyoto Protocol. He is a mathematician and engineer, with six university degrees including a PhD from Stanford University.
